Am I old school now?

Post by meh »

I've been here seven plus years according to my registration date! How can it be so long already? WTF did someone make one of those time control devices and speed things along because I'd like a few years back thank you. :D

Same here. Of course, I've been lurking since before the old website & FTP went away.
Man, I miss those days.

(cloaking device de-activated)

Well, I guess I'm in that category as well. Its been more than 10 years in the community for me.

I remember when the Hall of Statuary was the place for me as well as its message board and the Yahoo ASFR groups as well. I used to go to the local kinkos (LOL) and rent computer time just to read the stories and check the boards since I had no home computer at that time.

(dream sequence harp music plays....)

I've done my share of artwork for the community and have always wanted to write a decently good story..Maybe one day I can pass on an idea to someone to possibly collaborate with.

I also have to ask that people give the Kudos to Dmuk. the last stalwart titan of ASFR. Without his endeavors, I wouldn't get my seasonal fix for ASFR stories. I still prefer the ones from the earlier years.

Rock on, folks...

I found the alt.sex.fetish.robot usenet newsgroup and haven't left since...

I used to be ASL275 and wrote a couple of thimgs in the "Page Two" era of the LTBSA. The seminal stories by Dmuk and CMQ and Cobalt Jade and so many others pthat I first read will always be among my favorites...

I joined here not before 2009? strange:

My first contact was http://www.asfr.com, found via altavista (no google at this time!) about 1994;
my first stories were published on JamesML's homepage ...

http://www.asfr.com was refering to the newsgroup alt.sex.fetish.robots, but this group was already flooded by spam, and the we gathered on this websites.

Where are now all the statuephiles, mannequin-lovers, doll-makers, other ASFR-fans?
In a yahoo-group?
Is there an app on a smart-phone?
facebook? fetlife.com?

Can someone post a direction sign, please? Thanks in advance

Wow I dont know, Ive been around forever it seems. Probably scary to think about. I've been around since the start.

I just remember I amazed to find people with the same "interest" as me. I thought I might had been the only one in the world. lol

i was a lurker in either early 2006 or late 2005. but i set up the account in 2007.

i was in high school at the time. i always had a freeze fetish but i never truly recognized it as a fetish. i stumbled upon a hypnosis site and eventually cam here to the ftp site. that was a long time ago.

i have regrets that i did not here early. mainly because of those red eye films that are so hard to find. :(

and of course guy talons girl Jessica Wyatt. i know she had a website and that she did sessions. i cant even imagine how awesome it would be to freeze her in person. any of you guys have memories of her.???

I was a lurker even back when this site was in a different format, and had a different account, but changed my account to this on in '09.

However, I've been a mannequin fan since the late '90s back when JamesML first started his "MannequinLovers" site which he's since changed to "MannequinDisplay"

I wondered the same as someone earlier in this thread .... the Mannequin fetish site's/links/content seems to be slowly disappearing and now this site is pretty much devoted to timestop/hypno/freezing..... so are there any sites that cater more to Mannequins?

I was the same way. The only "fix" I got from my timestop interest was TV up until that point in shows like Star Trek's Timescape episode or the occasional movie. This place opened up everything to me, I remember the ftp space was one of the greatest sources of ts material and I really overwhelmed me for a while. But I didn't mind! :D

Yahoo did a crackdown on our and other fetish groups some years back and a lot of people seemed to drift way from the Yahoo groups. and then the ones that I used to frequent seemed to keep getting so much spam, they were almost a bear to visit. that and I think a bunch of people just quit posting things. (i'm just as guilty of that as well) I seemed to find a few people moved over to DA

I've been around since discovering asfr.com back in 1996, but back then I was single and childless, so I had a lot more free time. Lots of good sites have come and gone since then, I'm just glad some folks still have the time and interest to contribute and keep things going.

X2 on that one. Then I was visiting my parents on Thanksgiving 2003. Everyone was spread out all over the living room after dinner. I got bored and decided to try out this "internet thing" everybody was talking about. Lurked around for several hours and then typed in "living mannequin" or "frozen women" or something, and the URL for The Living Mannequin Circle popped up. I was like "HOLY CRAP!" Couldn't even imagine someone else being into this sort of thing, let alone a whole entire website dedicated to it. I don't think I left their house until 1am that morning. Got up early (Black Friday) and I went out shopping for something I knew absolutely nothing about just to get back on that website. I didn't have internet hook-up at first, so I was using one of those five hour AOL CD's that they'd give away for free at stores.

Pretty soon I found the LTBSA and the EMCSA and I started pulling all nighters because I didn't want to stop reading a story. I can remember coming into work in the morning looking like a zombie and a couple guys joking, "must be he finally found all the porn sites." By Christmas I had already turned in my first story "Frozen Goods" and my coffee maker was running non-stop by that point.

If you wanted to save a video back then, you'd hit 'save target as' and then come back two or three hours later to see if it was still buffering or not. Prior to this, I must have hit every mom n' pop video store within a two hour radius just renting obscure videos and hoping to find a little "blip" of freeze content. I have no doubt that I spent thousands of dollars doing this. There was a store 1 hr. 45 minutes away that had an adult film called "Collectible". I'd rented it numerous times, including once when I drove a 73' Monte Carlo through a foot of snow doing about twenty mph the entire way. I also remember renting "Behind Locked Doors" so often that the girl at the store looked at the computer screen one day and said "wow...That must be a really good movie to rent it ten times. It might be cheaper just to buy it, don't you think?" I said I would if I could actually find another copy. Then she looked at the video cover and rolled her eyes in disgust. When that video store eventually had a going out of business sale, I must have sorted through hundreds of tapes trying to find that movie just to own it. I eventually started hoarding so many asfr clips and had so many tapes that I had to buy a locking file cabinet with three drawers just to hide the stuff from girlfriends. ...I suppose that's probably why when I see certain members on here cry about people not wanting to post clips for free or they complain on the youtube thread about, "At what point does the freeze take place? I don't have all day." ...I just shake my head in disgust because they have no idea just how spoiled they are. Everything is right there at the click of a button and you don't even have to leave the comfort of your own home to find it. That's probably why I'll never post any of my collection. Got too much time, effort and way too much money invested just to give them away to someone that I feel hasn't earned it. :lol:

I know I've run into that in the past. I'd contact someone about a story that I liked. I might get something back right away, or it could be six months or even a year and they'd say, "Yeah, I've gotten married since then and started a family," or "Wow, I totally forgot I had this email address, but I've moved on to other things," which I totally understand and respect. You also have to look at it: we've had from the begining of time up until the introduction of the internet to build up all that material and interest in the ASFR fetish. If the internet has only been around for 18 or so years, and we've already sucked the well dry so to speak, it makes you wonder what the future will bring. Sort of like if it takes a band ten years to write their first hit album, then the record company expects them to write a follow up hit album within that same year, kind of changes the circumstances and time frame in which to do it. It would be nice to think that there would be more people interested in the fetish in the future, but I won't get my hopes up!
....And yes; Deviant Art is a good source for ASFR material! Been on there for years, and I think the names that I've recognized over there from sites like this one has trippled over the last few years.

Zapped, I gotta agree with you as well. I still have alot of material and info that I havent shown because I worked my ass off to get it. Lots of LM material and several clips I have traded with others. That is why I encourage alot of people to go out and speak with cam girls or others and see what they can get together rather than "expecting or demanding" someone post it online for everyone to see for free.

Zapped, If you ever wanna trade some stuff. just message me here. We can talk. For all the newbies and others. Let see what you can come up with.. (that's a challenge.)
God, I sound like a crotchety old man.. LMAO

I've been online since Easter 1999, discovered the old James ML site about two hours later and have never looked back. Started my own site at the end of May 2000, optimistically dreaming of the deluge of e-mails it would generate... sigh. Still, if nothing else I've managed to archive a lot of the older sites. I just wish I'd had broadband and HTTrack back in the old days - just think how much more I could have saved...

Yes, that's the one! I had always wanted to write a story based off the plot of that movie but never got around to it! Some good posing and a somewhat rare find (even back then). I always liked the pose of the brunette wearing the headpiece like a showgirl. The blonde actress that has the ice cubes used on her was also in a freeze fetish movie. Her name is Carolyn Monroe but the name of the freeze movie escapes me right now. By that point it looked like life in the fast lane had taken it's toll on her and the freeze movie sucked anyway... I think the producer was RPB (?) studios. Some truly horrible freezing in those. :roll:

You may want to look into an 'external hard drive' called the passport. You can take it anywhere with you and just plug it in. You also won't have to worry about your secret stash being thrown away! ...Just bought one back in July after my laptop crashed and I lost everything. I use that passport all the time now.

I visited last month a city a few hundred miles away.
My last visit there was long time ago; at this time, I found there a bridal boutique with several very realistic mannequins, and tool some photos - analog technique!

This time the boutique (and the mannequins) was gone :-(
The photos are in instamatic system, and the local scan-services cannot handle this old format;
I found now a scan-service for instamatic, but some distance; as I don't want to loose the the originals in the mail, I need some time for an appointment ...

Once the scans are online (this may take same time ...), I'll announce here ...

my old photographs (1997, instamatic-system - do not confuse with instagram!) are now scanned;
I put them onto deviantart (windowdressee.deviantart.com)
one pic every few days ...

I learned with them about the difficulties with the window panes - many photos are "empoisoned" with reflections (daylight and flashbulb) :-(

This boutique (Schoepp) had the most realistic mannequins I have seen myself so far - some even had teeth!

enjoy!
