You Tube - How to Download/Edit Files

Post by FM »

I noticed a lot of contributors are sending files to this new venue. Several of you are wondering how to save the files to your hard drive. After a little trial and error, I have discovered how to do this.

1. Get a good codec bundle. I use K-Lite mega codec pack. Install all the codecs you have room for. It can be found here:
http://www.free-codecs.com/download/K_L ... c_Pack.htm
2. Clear your internet history cache and go to You Tube to get the file you want to download. Let it finish loading/playing from you tube.
3. Find the file in your temporary list called "get_video" and copy it to your desired directory. It wont have an extension.
4. Rename the file to whatever you wish with an extension ".wmv"

That's it. If you use "Media Player Classic" it should open the file with no problem. This player comes with K-lite codec pack.

If you want to edit the file, try this:

1. Convert the file to "avi" format. I use Rad Video Tools found here: http://www.radgametools.com/bnkdown.htm

2. Edit with Virtual Dub found here: http://virtualdub.sourceforge.net/

Yes all this stuff is free! Enjoy.
