Freeze Blasts From The Past

I thought it would be fun to start a new thread dedicated to classic freeze moments of past movies / tv / music videos / youtube etc. that we all may have forgotten about, or that some of the younger members have never seen. A lot of these no doubt already exist as links on this site somewhere, but here's perhaps an easier way to find them. I think it would also be fun if the posters left thoughts as to why this is a classic, or how excited they were when it first appeared.

Let's start with the music video for "Pinch Me" by Barenaked Ladies. When I first saw the freezes in this video, I was floored by how expressive and animated they were, especially that one woman frozen in mid-walk with a supremely happy look on her face. This was a time when youtube wasn't a thing yet, so when something like this popped up it was such a big deal.

I have to go with the obscure Saban-related Los Luchadores episode. I believe it's the fourth episode, and it features the lovely Sara Carter and lovely Natassia Malthe being frozen in one scene.

Does 31 count as "younger"?

Not a super old MV, but to date is still the only use of a 4-persons lazy susan AFAIK. Great freeze posing all around ;)

I’d have to go with David Lee Roth’s ‘California Girls’ video. Thirty three years later and I’d still put it in my top five. I used to wait for my family to go to bed, get up and sit through hours of MTV videos waiting to see that last 1:12 of frozen goodness (they used to play it on the hour, every hour back in the winter of 1985). This video was a double-edged sword for me, as it was the “final nail in the coffin” for the original Van Halen (which I’m a major fan of). Ironically, Jane Leeves (who is BFF’s w/ Valerie Bertinelli, Eddie Van Halen’s wife at the time) played one of the tourists. There was supposed to be a full length movie made based off the MTV videos called 'Crazy From the Heat' (I actually have a copy of the script) but the film never made it beyond the casting call stage. Roth moved on with his solo career and the idea faded into obscurity...

Roth revisited the freeze theme in 1991’s ‘A Lil’ Aint Enough’ video (see 2:46):

Great thread idea!

But I dont know where to start! lol

I'm going to end up posting more then once on this thread, but here is a favorite.

Tabitha: Arrival of Nancy

I remember being very young seeing this. It wasnt to long after I discovered my "interest" in freezing.
I was watching tv real late one night, and I had this episode on the tv but I wasnt paying much attention.
And then that "sound" happened(0:03 in the video) and I looked up to see this.
Oh the flurry of emotions while I was watching this. lol That great frozen facial expression on the nurse with the curly hair.
In a way, while this was playing I was also frozen. Because shortly after it was over I realized that my betamax was on and all I had to do was hit record.
So every night Tabitha was on, and it was only on once a week I would record and hunt for freezes. I never did see this episode again till the invention of the internet.

I guess I will have to go back a ways with some of the best "posers" I have ever seen. Shields and Yarnell.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p7mZgwi44vg

they had such a knack and the style of pose as well with the hands and the facial express captivated me.

Too many to choose from!

Definitely agree with the all too brief Los Luchadores scene being a good one. I remember only seeing screen caps at first and searching forever to find the video online.

Another all time favorite is the Return of the Prankster episode of Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman. The Prankster invents a camera that freezes people with the flash and Lois Lane (the gorgeous Teri Hatcher) is frozen and posed throughout the episode. She even is showed stripped down to a silky negligee at one point! That series was a gold mine of freeze/mc content!

I was going to mention "Return of the Prankster"

Another great one was the store window showcases they used to do on "The Price is Right". I still have a few of them on tape, but no real way of converting them.

There's a few on YouTube as well. This person was nice enough to upload some of them a few years back:

Hard to believe, but I think it's been almost 20 years since the last time they did this. (I think the last one I know of was in the spring of '99).

This one is also in my all time favorites. Im pretty sure my betamax tape of this episode got worn out back in the day. lol

I can actually copy and digitize them if you would like me to take care of that for you.

I don't really care to send a bunch of tapes through the mail, let alone international mail (I'm in Canada), but thanks anyway.

Agreed. Thats probably its own separate thread worthy in itself. All time classic or best ever tv/movie freezes.

The porn movie "The Collectible 1992" where a man puts an ice cube on the human mannequin's crotch
This leaves a lasting impression on me

My first freeze: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G6jJii4u2Ic

Today's Special, obscure Canadian show. Pose is super memorable for me.

Not really a freeze per se... but this really influenced me when I was young (watching Nick at Nite on Nickolodeon):

Get Smart - Shipment to Beirut
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UF4LpFszkhI

And then... watching Beavis & Butthead back in the 90s led me to his music video (also very influential to me at the time):

Cycle Sluts - I Wish You Were A Beer
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BeuNckmt7h8
(I always thought the frozen person was a woman when I was a kid. I'm not so sure now... However, I'll probably continue to believe it's a woman for my own sake, hah)

I also remember this (super short - starts at 0:17):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2RIx1Lvlp7Q

Lastly, a big retro shoutout to Stuckfast's old Freeze Tease videos. I loved the free round table clips that were once posted on your site where the girls are sitting in the kitchen practicing and discussing freeze poses. I remember there was a Freeze Tag video and a Power Freeze video. It's a shame that I lost those clips when my old computer died back in 2003... *sigh*

Another classic favorite that I remember seeing as a kid and will never forget is the Fine Art of Crime episode of Wonder Woman. When Lynda Carter is frozen, smiling, with her hands on her hips...wow. Again, too brief of a scene!

As far as producers go, Stuckfast, Lord Hypno, and Nickel Dakota are the all time top three in my book. Of course there are a lot more that have come and gone, but these guys (especially Stuckfast and Lord Hypno) were pioneers who understood the fetish.

I have to agree with the Today's Special mannequin transformation.

I can remember being a kid and finding that very appealing.
I am also a fan of when black women are transformed, or frozen. So Today's Special checked that box.

I also remember the Yo! Super Force freezes as well. I think we all do, right? That just further strengthened by love of freezing.

The only thing that I can think of was when Zach Morris stopped time. Always a treat when that happened.

One early TV show that influenced my barely pubescent mind :D was "Good Heavens" with Carl Reiner as an angel who grants a different good person one wish. Each episode would start with the angel freezing everyone around the character while he talks to them about the wish.

I could only find the intro : https://youtu.be/TE83xvjJ0l0

I wish I could find entire episodes. One brief freeze shot that is still burned in my mind took place in a convenience store. A girl, probably not much older that I was at the time, frozen while licking an ice cream cone.

This one has long been on my wish lists. I've tried and tried over the years to find these episodes with no luck.

Yep, this show was another on my top list. I remember that the only station that played this show at the time of its airing was 7am on Sunday mornings.
I had to set my VCR timer to record it. A lot of times I would just get up and watch it. lol
I had the biggest crush on Evie's friend Lindsey(the blonde).
So it was always a big deal for me when she got frozen in time. lol
